AI Share of Voice Calculator
Measure how much of the AI conversation your brand owns. Count mentions across a set of buyer prompts, and the calculator turns them into the two numbers that define AI search visibility: mention rate and share of voice.
Your sample
Run the same buyer prompts across the engines and count brand mentions in the answers.
AI share of voice
24.5%
of 49 brand mentions across your sample
Mention rate
30%
of sampled answers name you at all
Emerging
Named, but competitors own the conversation. Target the prompts where you never appear.
The method, and its limits
Share of voice is your mentions divided by all brand mentions in the same answers. Mention rate is the share of answers that name you at all. Both move between runs: in our 240-answer dataset the top recommendation changed 28 to 44 percent of the time between identical runs, so treat a single manual count as a snapshot, not a truth. Sample 20 to 50 buyer prompts, repeat the runs, and watch the trend.
The automated version of this page is the product: Honeyb runs your category's prompts across up to eight AI engines daily, computes both numbers per engine, and then the agent works on the gaps, from the content that earns citations to the AI readability fixes that let engines read you. Frequently asked questions
What is AI share of voice?
AI share of voice is the percentage of brand mentions in AI answers that belong to your brand, measured across a set of buyer prompts in your category. If the engines mention brands 100 times across your tracked prompts and 20 of those are you, your AI share of voice is 20 percent.
How is share of voice different from mention rate?
Mention rate is how often you appear: the share of answers that name you at all. Share of voice is how much of the conversation you own relative to competitors. A brand can have a high mention rate and a low share of voice when it always appears but competitors are named more often alongside it. The calculator reports both.
How many answers do I need before the number means anything?
More than one run. In our own 240-answer dataset the top recommendation changed 28 to 44 percent of the time between identical runs, so a single sample is noise. Treat 20 to 50 prompts, each run several times, as the floor for a stable reading, and track the trend rather than any single day.
Can I automate this instead of counting by hand?
Yes. This calculator is the manual version of what Honeyb measures continuously: it runs your category's buyer prompts across up to eight AI engines daily, computes mention rate and share of voice per engine, and then the agent works on the gaps it finds, from content to AI readability fixes.
