Writesonic Alternatives: 11 Picks for AI Search or Writing, Priced in US Dollars

Writesonic began as an AI writer and now sells AI search visibility from $79 a month. Which alternative fits depends on which Writesonic you bought. We split 11 by job and priced each from the vendor's own US page. For AI search, Honeyb comes out first: all eight engines and 30 articles a month for $199.

Writesonic Alternatives: 11 Picks for AI Search or Writing, Priced in US Dollars

Two different people type "Writesonic alternatives" into Google. One signed up years ago for an AI writer and is wondering why the pricing page now talks about ChatGPT citations. The other is shopping for AI search visibility, found Writesonic's plans and wants to know what else is out there. Most lists on this query serve one of them and lose the other.

This page serves both. Writesonic's own pricing page, read on 13 October 2026, settles what the product is today: every plan leads with prompts tracked daily on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, with AI articles and site audits underneath. Below are 11 alternatives in three groups, AI search, SEO content and plain writing, each with the price as US visitors see it on the vendor's own page, what it does better than Writesonic, one limit and who it suits. For the AI search job, Honeyb comes out first and is our pick for best overall and best value.

    Why teams look past Writesonic

Writesonic's page opens on annual billing, so the first number you see is $79 a month for Starter; month to month the same plan costs $240 a year more. The reasons people go looking elsewhere are printed on the same page:

    • Three engines until Enterprise. Starter, Basic and Growth track ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. The other platforms arrive only in the Enterprise column's "All 8 AI platforms tracked".
    • Answers per prompt. Starter tracks 50 prompts and 50 answers a day, so each prompt is checked once a day; Basic tracks 300 answers for 100 prompts and Growth 600 for 200.
    • Action features at the top. Sentiment analysis starts on Growth at $399, the Action Center is a trial of 5 on-page and 5 off-page actions a month on Growth and complete only on Enterprise, and agentic workflows are limited to trial runs on every self-serve plan.
    • Seats. Starter has 1 user, Basic 2 and Growth 3, with extra users at $50 a month each.

And for the writer who never wanted tracking, the change is simpler: every plan now prices AI visibility in, so the articles come bundled with a dashboard you may not open.

Line the AI search tools up at the same price and the gap is in the answers counted. At $79, Honeyb's Multi-Model checks 50 prompts on three engines every day, about 4,500 answers a month, with 15 articles; Writesonic Starter at the same $79, billed annually, tracks about 1,500 with 15 articles. At $199, Full Spectrum runs about 24,000 answers on eight engines and writes 30 articles, while Basic tracks about 9,000 on three and writes 25.

If you bought Writesonic for AI search visibility

Every entry follows the same order: the verdict, the price as published for US visitors, what it does better than Writesonic, its limit and who it suits.

    1. Honeyb (ours): best overall and best value, every engine every day with a Content Agent

Honeyb sells the same loop as Writesonic, track then fix then publish, with more of the weight on measurement: every engine available on self-serve plans, and every prompt checked on every engine you choose, every day.

    • Price (honeyb.ai/pricing, 13 Oct 2026): The Minimum is $29 a month for 10 prompts daily on one engine and 5 Content Agent articles ($23 billed annually); Multi-Model is $79 for 50 prompts daily on three engines you choose and 15 articles; Full Spectrum is $199 for 100 prompts daily on all eight and 30 articles. The AI visibility API sells answers at $0.08 each with no plan.
    • Engines: ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, DeepSeek, Google AI Mode and AI Overviews.
    • Better than Writesonic at: answers per dollar and engines per plan, ranked fixes on every plan, unlimited seats from $79, and articles whose topics come from the prompts where competitors are named and you are not. The Content Agent publishes to WordPress, Ghost, Shopify, Webflow or Wix.
    • Best value: about 24,000 answers a month on all eight engines plus 30 articles for $199, about $0.008 an answer, against about $0.022 on Writesonic Basic at the same price.
    • Limit: no site audits of the kind Writesonic bundles and no ads monitoring, one seat on the $29 plan, and the 3-day trial covers Multi-Model and Full Spectrum only.
    • Suits: teams whose buyers use Claude, Perplexity or AI Mode as well as ChatGPT, and who want each engine measured on its own.

    • Price (athenahq.ai/plans, 13 Oct 2026): a free Essential plan with 300 credits on five engines and unlimited members; Starter at $295 a month for 3,600 credits across 11 models, where one credit is one AI response. API access and extra credits are paid add-ons.

    • Better than Writesonic at: Claude, Perplexity, Copilot and AI Mode on a self-serve plan, and a free plan that keeps going.
    • Limit: $295 is the paid entry, 3,600 responses across 11 models is about 11 prompts a day, and there is no monthly article allowance.
    • Suits: teams that need breadth more than volume.

    3. Profound: the enterprise reference

Profound is where large brands go when AI search has become a board-level number.

    • Price (tryprofound.com/pricing, 13 Oct 2026): a free trial with 50 prompts run daily for 7 days on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews; Enterprise is custom, sold after a demo.
    • Better than Writesonic at: depth of measurement on Enterprise, with up to nine engines, Prompt Volumes and an AI Marketer agent.
    • Limit: no published price, so the comparison with Writesonic's Enterprise tier happens on two sales calls.
    • Suits: large brands that would otherwise talk to Writesonic's enterprise team. Our Profound alternatives price the field around it.

    4. Similarweb AEO Intelligence: AI search next to market data

    10. Copy.ai: a cheap writer for a small team

Copy.ai is the cheapest way to give five people a shared AI writer.

    • Price (copy.ai/prices, 13 Oct 2026): Chat is $29 a month, or $24 billed annually, for 5 seats with unlimited chat across OpenAI, Anthropic and Gemini models. Workflows start on Growth at $1,000 a month for 75 seats.

    • Better than Writesonic at: long, careful drafts, editing and research across documents, for $20 a month against Starter's $79.
    • Limit: no SEO data, article quotas or publishing; you bring the brief and the process.
    • Suits: writers who want a drafting partner and nothing else.

    Also considered

Otterly AI, Peec AI and Rankscale are dedicated AI visibility trackers with no article generation; our Otterly AI alternatives score them. ChatGPT is the obvious general assistant alongside Claude, and Rytr suits short-form copy. Each either publishes too little to price here or is mainly a different product.

    Before you switch

Decide which Writesonic you are leaving. If it is the writer, export your brand voices and templates, pick Jasper, Copy.ai or Claude, and you are done in an afternoon. If it is the tracker, copy your prompt list into the new tool and run both for two weeks, comparing each engine separately, because Writesonic's Starter checks each prompt once a day and a like-for-like comparison needs the same engine on both sides. And keep the prompts fixed after the switch, since AI answers vary between identical runs and only a stable prompt set turns readings into a trend.

    How we chose and checked

Every tool here does one of the jobs Writesonic is bought for, and each entry follows the same order so you can compare them line by line.

Prices. Read on each vendor's own pricing page on 13 October 2026, in US dollars as printed. Where a page showed us only euros (Surfer) or no price (AirOps, Profound), we say so and give no dollar figure. Frequently asked questions

    How much does Writesonic cost?

On 13 October 2026 Writesonic's pricing page showed Starter at $79 a month, Basic at $199 and Growth at $399, all billed annually; monthly billing costs $240, $600 and $1,200 a year more. Enterprise is custom. Each plan includes AI visibility tracking, AI articles and site audits, and the free trial needs no card.

Is Writesonic still an AI writer?

It still writes: every plan includes 15 to 50 AI articles a month. But its plans are now built around AI search visibility, tracking prompts on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. If you only want a writer, Jasper, Copy.ai or Claude cost less.

Which AI engines does Writesonic track?

ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews on Starter, Basic and Growth. All 8 platforms it supports are tracked only on Enterprise. Honeyb tracks all eight major engines, including Claude, Perplexity and Google AI Mode, on its $199 Full Spectrum plan, and every Honeyb plan lets you choose from all eight.

What is the best Writesonic alternative?

For AI search, Honeyb: all eight engines and 100 prompts a day on Full Spectrum for $199 a month, about 24,000 answers ($0.008 each), with 30 Content Agent articles and ranked fixes. For writing alone, Jasper for brand voice or Claude for a capable general assistant.

What is the cheapest Writesonic alternative?

For AI visibility with articles, Honeyb starts at $29 a month (10 prompts daily and 5 articles), or $23 billed annually. For writing, Claude Pro is $20 a month and Copy.ai's Chat plan is $29 for five seats. For SEO articles, Frase starts at $49 a month, or $39 billed yearly.

Writesonic or Honeyb for AI search visibility?

Writesonic bundles site audits and ads monitoring, which Honeyb does not. Honeyb tracks more engines on self-serve plans and checks every prompt on every chosen engine daily: about 4,500 answers a month for $79 against Writesonic Starter's 1,500, and 24,000 on eight engines for $199 against Basic's 9,000 on three, with 30 articles against 25.

Does Writesonic track Claude and Perplexity?

Only on Enterprise, as part of all 8 platforms. Self-serve plans track ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. Honeyb and AthenaHQ include Claude and Perplexity in self-serve plans.

    Writesonic or Jasper?

Jasper is the better pure writer for marketing teams, with Brand Voice and governance at $69 a seat a month. Writesonic is the better choice if you also want AI visibility tracking and site audits, which Jasper's Pro plan does not include.

    Matiss Katanenko

    Co-founder, Honeyb

My name is Matiss Katanenko and I co-founded Honeyb, the agent that gets brands recommended by AI, tracking how ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and four more AI engines talk about them. Before Honeyb I ran SEO for fast-growing companies across the US and Europe, including one of America's 500 fastest-growing companies. The numbers I am proudest of: taking a site from zero to 200,000 monthly visitors in five months, and over $10M in client revenue attributed to organic search. I still run experiments across ten-plus of my own domains to test what actually works in SEO, programmatic SEO and AI search, and those experiments are what this blog reports on. My focus today is AI search visibility: how brands get retrieved, ranked and referenced by LLMs. I'm based in Riga, Latvia. In my free time I'm in the sauna, on a padel court, or behind a drum kit.
